剧情描述诺拉（Nora）被父亲（黄荣亮饰）、祖母（洛瑞·坦·齐恩饰）还有表兄（杨伯文饰）共同扶养长大成人，她的青少年时期在纽约街头走跳，各项待人处事之道皆是从家人身上学习而来。

故事开始在一个突降大雪的夜晚，十月怀胎的Nora（格瑞辰·摩尔GretchenMol饰）肚子作动，身为医生的丈夫David（德蒙特·莫罗尼DermotMulroney饰）决定送她去自己的诊所，同时打电话给护士Gil（艾米丽·沃森EmilyWatson饰）让他赶紧去诊所准备。Nora诞下一对龙凤胎，然而David一眼便看出女儿患有唐氏症，想起自己12岁的妹妹便是死于唐氏症的折磨下，而且家母终身未能再展露笑容。为了避免悲剧的发生，David当机立断让Gil把小女儿送走，只对Nora说女儿一出生便夭折了。这一个决定，改变了三个人的命运。

与挪威原作《SKAM》一样，第一季是以EvaVázquezVillanueva为主角来展开的，故事发生在秋天，描述Eva和Jorga之间充满混乱与谎言的爱情，以及与Nora（Noora）、Cris（Chris）、Viri（Vlide）、Amira（Sana）五个女孩之间的友情。
