本剧改编自由 Robert Popper 创作的Channel 4喜剧《星期五晚餐》，它于 2011 年至 2020 年，持续在ChanneI4 制播了六季；并且也曾多次获得英国电视学院奖的提名表彰。 2021 年，由于在剧中饰演父亲 " Martln ”的演员Paul Ritter的去世，剧集宣布完结，不再制作新季。
